The capital hotels they are almost full for the weekend of the Carnival in the street. The transfer of the festival to the month of June has meant that many visitors have been encouraged to come to Santa Cruz to enjoy such an atypical Carnival, at least during the weekend in the street. This was confirmed to DIARIO DE AVISOS by Gabriel Wolgeschaffen, as vice president of Ashotel Zona Centro. As he explained, “as soon as the dates were announced, the flow of reservations was quickly noticed, yes, basically concentrated on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25, which is where we expect to have between 90-100% occupancy.”

And it is that, unlike other years, it has gone from almost an entire month of high occupancy, as occurs on the usual dates, to these two days. “February customers are already more than used to those dates and they have them well marked on the calendar. There are even national and international agencies that have the Carnival included in their circuits, and this year, like last year, they have not been able to sell in advance as usual. The fact of shooting it punctually this year in the summer is undoubtedly a good idea that we are sure will attract a lot of local and foreign clientele, but this uncertainty that we have experienced has not helped the planning client or the groups”, says Wolgeschaffen.

In addition, he adds that “even with everything it is our main party and one of our great letters of introduction, so we are happy with the return of our Carnival”.

Looking ahead to the summer, points out the vice-president of Ashotel that “if it follows the pattern of last year. Summer can be a stable period, despite not being exactly our best season”. Remember that “our main client is still business, which in summer declines a lot. We have indeed noticed an increase in Canarian residents who have moved between islands for leisure. We are confident that the trend will continue.”
