SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, has described this Wednesday as “horror” the multiple murder committed by a 198-year-old in a Texas elementary school and who has already accumulated at least 21 deaths, 19 of them children .
In a joint press conference with the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, he said that “the fundamental problem” is the free access to weapons that citizens have and therefore he is “surprised” that from the extreme right European Union “flirts” with this matter.
He has regretted that a young man can carry out a multiple shooting like that “without anyone noticing anything” and understands that “the reflection” of “how is it possible that a young man had access to those weapons” must be made.
According to the minister, “the fact that anyone has access to weapons leads to a new massacre and if no one does anything to remedy it, another will follow.”
