Until the morning of next Monday, May 30, the Roads area of the Cabildo de Tenerife will carry out the rehabilitation of the surface of the island road TF-312in Puerto de la Cruz, which joins the areas of El Botánico (TF-31) and Las Arenas (TF-320) in five kilometres.
The works will be carried out in three sections, from kilometer point 0 to 2 and always at night, specifically, between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The island councilor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explains that the works also include the planning of alternative traffic so that this main artery of the city of Porto can continue to be used at all times.
Arriaga adds that “the action on this island road contemplates, in addition to the rehabilitation of the pavement, the increase in defense and drainage elements and the replacement of a section of pavement and a wall to improve the urban transition zone” . For this, the Island Corporation has provided a budget of 493,131 euros.
For his part, the insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, details that the rehabilitation consists of the partial elimination of the pavement and its subsequent replacement, respecting the grade of the current road.
Accident rate on the TF-312
Likewise, it points out that the Botanico highway is degraded as a result of the high density of traffic and inclement weather. “It is evident the emaciation and progressive loss of the wearing course, which can affect safety and cause an increase in the accident rate on the road”, he said.
The action began in March with tasks that could be carried out during daytime hours, such as the channeling for rainwater and a protection for pedestrians that is executed in the curve before the crossing of the Belair building, explains the insular director.
The last time the Council of Tenerife acted on this road dates back to 2010. In February 2019, the insular and local corporations at that time announced that they were going to invest 32 million in the rehabilitation of the road, an ambitious project that also involved other improvements.
