SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

More than 1,300 students from 25 educational centers in Tenerife, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and La Palma have participated during this school year in the Talentum Future program organized by the Cabildo, through the Tenerife Science and Technology Park (PCTT).

Children and young people between the ages of six and eighteen have participated in this edition of Talentum Future, who have developed more than 70 technological projects and which were presented today at the Tenerife Auditorium, before an audience of more than 1,500 people, made up of students , teachers, companions and experts in innovation and technological entrepreneurship.

The First Vice President and Minister of Innovation, Enrique Arriaga, congratulated the participating teams for the quality and ingenuity of the works presented and highlighted that “programs such as Talentum Future encourage the use of new technologies among schoolchildren and develop values ​​linked to innovation , technologies, entrepreneurial attitude, creative thinking, collaborative learning and teamwork”.

Arriaga also pointed out that “with this first approach of students to Innovation, many scientific vocations are encouraged, young people who throughout their lives can continue to use the PCTT to continue training in technology through different programs and training”.

For his part, the general director of Planning, Innovation and Quality of the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gregorio Cabrera, highlighted “the alignment of the objectives of this project with those of the Canary Islands STEAM program for the promotion of scientific and technological vocations among the youth of the archipelago”.

Cabrera remarked that “the Autonomous Executive has enabled the participation of students from other islands in this initiative, in addition to Tenerife, thanks to the collaboration carried out. In this way, he explained, there will be about 1,300 students and about 70 projects that will be part of the same, as well as the promotion of the presence of female students within the framework of the promotion of equality in this type of actions”.

The Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training students who have participated in this PCTT initiative have had to face a problem or challenge in today’s society, proposing creative solutions based on educational robotics, programming and STEAM areas. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).

In addition, for the first time in the history of the program, the call has been opened to young students from other islands, as part of the vocation of the Cabildo de Tenerife, through the PCTT, to help promote entrepreneurship and technological curiosity from early stages. early.

This challenge, which has been taking place in Tenerife since 2016, promotes the use of technology among the youngest and, for the first time, has been opened to participants from other islands.

The participating centers this year in Talentum Future are: IES Corralejo (Fuerteventura), IES Guía (Gran Canaria), CEO Santiago Apóstol (La Gomera), IES Eusebio Barreto Lorenzo and IES Luis Cobiella Cuevas (La Palma), CEIP José Esquivel, CEIP Miguel Pintor González, CEIP San Fernando, CEIP Tamaimo, IES Andrés Bello, IES Geneto, IES Granadilla de Abona, IES Güímar, IES La Laboral, IES La Orotava-Manuel González Pérez, IES Los Cristianos, IES Professor Martín Miranda, IES San Matías , IES Santa Ana, IES Teobaldo Power and IES Tomás de Iriarte (Tenerife).
