SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Agents of the National Police, within the framework of the Malvinas operation, have investigated four British citizens, one of them arrested when he was on the island of Tenerife, for the alleged authorship of two crimes of false documents. Apparently, they used false documents to prove that they resided in national territory before Brexit and thus apply for residence in Spain.
On February 1, 2020, the United Kingdom left the European Union, establishing a transition period until December 31, in which natural and legal persons did not notice significant changes.
However, from that moment on, British citizens who wanted to obtain legal residence in our country had to prove, generally through the municipal census, that they resided before the end of 2020. Otherwise, the general regime would apply. applied to foreign citizens in Spain.
The investigators of the National Police, through the Immigration Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, learned of the possible existence of fraud in some of these residence applications.
The agents, after carrying out the necessary procedures, effectively detected at least four requests that had been made through false documents.
The four British citizens, residing in the south of the island of Tenerife, were investigated for the alleged authorship of two crimes of document fraud. One of them, being on the island of Tenerife at the time, was arrested by the agents.
The investigation continues and it is not ruled out that new arrests, along the lines of the previous ones or of people who have advised or represented these British citizens, may be carried out.
The actions were carried out by national police officers from the Provincial Immigration and Borders Brigade of the Provincial Police Station of the National Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
