The area of highways Council of Tenerife announces the start of asphalt paving and night improvement works on the TF-312 road, linking the Las Arenas and El Botánico tracks through the hull of Cross port. The works, which will improve a 2-kilometre section, will be carried out between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., with the aim of reducing their impact on local traffic.
This insular road, whose reform will be divided into three sections, is a fundamental road for circulation within the Cross port, since it serves as a connection between its two main entrances. The insular vice-president and councilor responsible for the Highways area, Enrique Arriaga (Cs), details that the renovation of the pavement “will be done at night and with alternative traffic so that this main artery of the city of Porto can continue to be used at all times.” There will be no total cuts in any section of the road.
Arriaga adds that the action on this island road includes, in addition to the rehabilitation of the pavement, “the increase in defense and drainage elementsas well as the replacement of a section of pavement and a wall to improve the urban transition zone, for which it has been provided with a total budget of 493,131 euros».
The Island Director of Highways of the Tenerife Council, Thomas Felix Garciaadds that the rehabilitation consists of the partial removal of the surface and its subsequent replacement “respecting the grade of the current TF-312 road.”
The road surface is damaged by intense use and inclement weather
Garcia admits that this road between El Botánico and Las Arenas “It is degraded as a result of the high density of traffic and inclement weather, so the emaciation and progressive loss of the wearing course is evident, which can affect safety and cause an increase in the accident rate on the road” .
The TF-312 An ambitious urban transformation project is still pending, whose global budget has been estimated at around 32 million euros. This intervention, announced in the previous mandate, provides for actions to adapt the Botanic area with gardens and other public spaces and facilities, together with a comprehensive action on the entire road, which was planned to be divided into five major phases. It would also include the modification of the link or octopus of Las Cabezas. The Cabildo of Tenerife reported at the beginning of 2020 that the drafting of the project would be in charge of the public company Gestur, which would also be in charge of the future management of the work.
