SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Tenerife will host the ‘European Tramway Congress’ in March 2023, one of the most important events on the continent that promotes knowledge and debate on the innovation and development of light rail and trams as key factors for sustainable mobility.
Its organization is run by the British company Mainspring, specializing in marketing services and consultancy in the field of transport.
The island councilor for Mobility and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, together with the director of Mainspring, Matthew Johnston, made this announcement at the closing ceremony of the 2022 European Congress that was recently held in Zaragoza.
Arriaga highlights in a note that “the designation of Tenerife as the venue for this event is a great opportunity to promote the island because it will become, for a few days, the European epicenter of the tram and light rail sector.”
Likewise, he continues, “it is a recognition of the work and management that Metrotenerife has been carrying out for months to host this continental event that will bring together delegates from multinationals, administrations, academics and top-level mobility experts.”
For his part, José Alberto León, Island Director of Mobility, who was also present at the closing ceremony, adds that the presence of Metrotenerife at the Zaragoza Congress has been outstanding.
Thus, Pablo Oromí, Projects technical engineer, presented to the attendees the latest engineering development such as the removable insulating rail jacket, and Teresa Benet, International Projects technician, participated in the discussion table on new free transport models .
