SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Turismo de Tenerife has participated in the ‘Running Remote 2022’ event to promote the island as a destination for teleworking and publicize the actions that are being implemented to develop the digital ecosystem.
Around a thousand people participated in these sessions, which were held on May 17 and 18 in Montreal, Canada.
The CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, David Pérez, highlights in a note the potential of the island to welcome teleworkers from all over the world, thanks to the level of telecommunications and the infrastructures available to offer quality services.
“Since the arrival of the pandemic, we have shown that we are capable of welcoming remote workers. In fact, some of our hotels have been adapted for long-stay visitors who have moved their offices to our island,” he says.
Now, he indicates, “we have to show all that potential to the rest of the world, to attract a tourist profile that wants to combine work and leisure in an environment that offers multiple possibilities.”
In addition, he explains that “it is the perfect time to promote the destination in the North American market, given the imminent start of direct air connections between New York and Tenerife, a very important gateway with this type of profiles from the East Coast and Canada. “.
The CEO stated that one of the objectives of Turismo de Tenerife is “to create a valid ecosystem to meet the needs of working people and digital nomads, who are two completely different groups and for which a strategy needs to be put in place to make them reach the whole offer.
To this end, Turismo de Tenerife attended one of the largest international conference events in which business leaders were offered access to useful knowledge, connections and solutions to help create, manage and direct their workforce towards excellence.
COWORKING SPACES
The ‘Running Remote 2022’ meeting addressed the keys to implementing teleworking or a hybrid system that combines face-to-face and online work, a model in which Tenerife offers incentives, such as the ‘Welcome Pass’ and ‘Landing Package’ programs, that provide advantages to those who decide to settle on the island to telecommute.
On the one hand, ‘Welcome Pass’ allows you to get to know Tenerife’s coworking spaces and offers discounts on leisure activities, while ‘Landing Package’ is a practical guide that offers digital nomads useful information on everything they need to know to settle in the island.
The CEO also assures that “this meeting also allowed to meet new companies and the possibility of establishing potential contacts with which to carry out new external collaboration agreements of the Work&Play brand”.
Precisely, this brand was born as a promotion strategy not only as a tourist destination, but also adapted for those known as digital nomads and remote workers who need specific services to settle on the island for long periods of time.
Tenerife is committed to attracting digital talent through the ‘Work&Play’ brand, which promotes the island as an attractive location for different professionals such as remote workers, digital nomads and technology-based startups.
This initiative is promoted by the economic promotion platform Why Tenerife?, made up of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Chamber of Commerce, the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), the Port Authority and the Tenerife Free Zone.
