Los Realejos improves its wakes

The Municipality of Los Realejos announces that from next week the comprehensive reform of the wake rooms of the holy cross to adapt them to the new regulation of mortuary healing, as has been done recently in the crypt of El Pilar. The next action, which is already in the planning phase, will be carried out in the middle of the White stick.

The first deputy mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo Gonzalez (PP)points out that these actions in Calle Real will serve to “relocate and adapt the spaces of the wake rooms of La Cruz Santa to current regulations, “in the same way that was carried out in the newly remodeled wake rooms of El Pilar».

The local government invests 106,322 euros charged to its Neighborhood Plan in this project. The delegate councilor for Public Works and Municipal Buildings, Jose Andres Perez (PP)advanced that through a municipal edict “it has already been reported that these facilities of La Cruz Santa are unusable from this week for the purpose of initiating the removal of furniture prior to the beginning of the works.”

González and Pérez visited what is known as the crypt of La Cruz Santa together with the area councillor, Dario Perez (PP)who reported that “in the event of deaths of neighbors in this environment that occur in the near future and while the reform work continues, the duels will be transferred to the new rooms of El Pilar.”

The current crypt of La Cruz Santa, with a surface area of 195 square meters, does not meet the conditions of Decree 132/2014, of December 29, of Mortuary Health of the Canary Islands, so it is necessary to act and proceed with the interior remodeling, maintaining the aforementioned surface, with a new independent access for the entry of corpses, separated from that of relatives and the general public. Likewise, a room will be enabled for the preparation of the deceased with the required hygienic conditions.

are anticipated two refrigerated rooms, which will in turn be the exhibition areas for the deceased, connected to the coffin entrance and leading to their respective glazed area that allows direct viewing from the rooms intended for companions. There will also be a common living and access area that connects with these two more private rooms with mechanical ventilation.

White stick

The realejero government (PP) recalls that it plans to begin shortly the drafting of the project for the construction of a new crypt in Palo Blanco, which will be located on municipally owned plots adjacent to the El Cercado football stadium. “After evaluating different alternatives in the area in recent years, a new building will finally be built, a project that we plan to execute during 2023 and that will provide a solution to the needs of this environment, since the current dependencies for this use are ceded by the parish. and they do not meet the necessary requirements to carry out the wakes in optimal conditions”, Adolfo González recently detailed. The new project will be drafted by technicians from the Municipal Planning Department and will follow the same line as these latest reforms and adaptations of space in accordance with applicable regulations on Mortuary Health.
