The town of Valle de Arriba celebrates this weekend its festivities in honor of the Santísimo Cristo del Valle de Arriba and the Virgen de la Estrella this year 2022, which will take place from Friday 20 to Monday 23 May, and which will host numerous recreational and religious acts, among which we highlight the traditional Prayer of the Lord of the Valley to the Barrens.
On the first day of the celebration, the ascent of the Holy Christ will take place from the Parish of San Fernando Rey in Santiago del Teide to the Hermitage of Santiago Apóstol, in the town of the celebration, starting at 8:00 p.m.
On Saturday, at 9:00 p.m., there will be a mass in honor of the Santísimo Cristo del Valle and the Virgen de la Estrella, officiated by the parish priest D. Víctor Manuel Fernández Suárez, and will be accompanied by the singing of the Canna group. Once the Eucharist is over, the procession will begin along the usual route, where the municipal authorities, the faithful and the Santiago del Teide Music Band will be present. At the moment of the arrival of the procession, Dulce Barrios will delight with her interpretation of the Ave Maria. At the end, the Great Verbena will be held with the orchestras “Malibú Band” and “Young Project”.
The most commemorative act of these celebrations will take place on Sunday, May 22, starting at 11:00 a.m. with the Prayer of the Lord of the Valley to Los Baldíos, where the Holy Mass and the staging of the eruption will take place. During the course of this, there will be a posthumous tribute to D. Antonio Trujillo Curbelo. Afterwards, there will be a fellowship lunch for the attendees and, to end the day, at the arrival of the Rogativa, there will be the Great Dance by Manuel Dorta.
To conclude with the celebrations, on Monday, May 23, starting at 6:30 p.m., the image of the Lord of the Valley will be transferred from the Hermitage of Santiago in the Valley of Arriba, to the Parish of San Fernando Rey , which will conclude with a Holy Mass upon arrival.
