The City Hall of Santa Cruz is assessing the state of the pavement of the bus lane located between Álvaro Rodríguez López street and Clara Campoamor de la capital of Tenerife and will proceed with the necessary actions for its provisional reconditioning, while the final solution is processed in the medium term to satisfy the pavement and surface needs of this road.
From the Public Services area, led by Carlos Tarife, it was explained yesterday that the appropriate steps are being taken to resolve the incident detected, although Tarife stressed yesterday that “we have always prioritized the repair of these lanes that serve urban municipal public transport ” and added that “there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that we take note of this detected incident and proceed immediately to the technical assessment, which will be the one that dictates the guidelines for its scope and the way in which it must be carried out. act in this case.
“In any case, we must bear in mind that the City Council of Santa Cruz currently has a budget of 6.5 million in an unprecedented plan for asphalting and repaving numerous roads and streets in the five districts of the municipality. ”, concluded the Councilor for Public Services.
The Consistory thus responded to the previous announcement by the Cabildo that it had sent a statement in which the First Vice President and Minister of Mobility and Roads, Enrique Arriaga, required the City Council to urgently and immediately rehabilitate a section of the pavement of the bus lane that falls under its jurisdiction and that is very deteriorated with potholes, fissures and sinkholes, referring specifically to this area of Álvaro Rodríguez López street.
Arriaga explained that he has sent the municipal officials the technical reports made by the Roads and Mobility areas and those responsible for the mechanics of the Titsa transport company, which certify the deficiencies found and how they affect the buses that circulate through it.
Specifically, after the checks carried out, in addition to sinkholes, fissures and potholes that compromise road safety, partially collapsed manhole covers and manholes have been detected, in some cases with part of the surrounding pavement removed; sunken parts of the pavement mostly coinciding with the vehicle rolling area, patched and still deteriorated sections, in addition to a general deterioration of the surface with cracks and aggregate removed from the surface in several sections of the lane.
In addition, they explained that the mechanics of the transport company have verified that it damages the bodywork, the damping as well as structures of the passenger compartment such as seats or doors, without forgetting tire deformations and breakages in the frames.
For all these reasons, from the Highways area and through its counselor, Santa Cruz was urged, through an official letter, to carry out a comprehensive and immediate intervention of the pavement.
