The Noble Hall of the Cabildo de Tenerife has hosted this Friday the presentation of the book ‘Agroecology, pending subject’, by the agronomist Alfonso Molera Teruel. The volume claims the importance of agroecology, as well as the need to increase the total area of organic farming on the Islands, its production and consumption.
During the act, which was introduced by the insular director of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Cayetano Silva, a tour was made of the 35 years of history of the Permanent Seminar of Agriculture of the University of La Laguna and a debate was held on the present and the future of organic farming in the Canary Islands.
The author explained that with this book he also wants to vindicate the inclusion of ecological agriculture as one more subject in the Escuela de Agrícolas de La Laguna, and both took the opportunity to invite the population to consume more local and ecological products a fair price that compensates the producers.
