SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The ministries of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning and Health of the Government of the Canary Islands have updated the bathing water areas and the sampling points with the bathing water profiles of these coastal areas in the IDECanarias viewer in the islands. All this work is available for free through the link https://grafcan.es/rgEPjPT.

The Minister of Ecological Transition, José Antonio Valbuena, has detailed that the information published in the viewer contemplates the result of the Sanitary Surveillance program of Bathing Water Zones of the Canary Islands carried out in the period 2011-2021 by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Canary Health Service, in addition to geographic, hydrological, microbiological, discharge and bathing water management information.

People who access this section can obtain data of interest such as the bathymetry of the area, the total annual rainfall, the tidal range, the substrate, the wave regime and exposure, the microbiological parameters of the bathing water, the hydrographic demarcation, pollution risks, environmental control points, etc.

The public company Cartografía de Canarias (Grafcan) is the entity responsible for the IDECanarias portal and for the activities of planning, production, exploitation, dissemination and maintenance of geographic and territorial information on the Canary Islands, in accordance with the guidelines and geographic policy of the Government of Canary Islands. It is a specialized service of the Canary Executive that was established as a public limited company based on principles of technical efficiency and administrative agility.
