El Rosario received the news yesterday after 14 years of waiting: the Governing Council authorizes the expense for the contracting of the construction works of the new Local Clinic of La Esperanza for an amount of 2.5 million euros. The mayor of Rosario, Escolástico Gil, celebrated the decision adopted by the Government of the Canary Islands: “This is great news for El Rosario after so many years of waiting to have a medical center that dignifies health care for the citizens of the municipality.”
The Minister of Health of the Regional Executive, Blas Trujillo, has already signed the order to start the contracting file for the execution of the work, with an execution period of 24 months from the day following the signing of the layout verification act. The new building will be built on a plot ceded by the City Council of El Rosario to the Government of the Canary Islands. It will have a total area of 1,024 square meters. It will have three floors connected by a stairway and a stretcher lift, as well as an admission and administrative management area, adult care areas with six queries and a pediatric area with two queries, all with their own waiting rooms and toilets. Likewise, it will have an area for attention to the Emergencies with differentiated access from the rest and areas of technical dependencies, support and use of personnel.
As detailed by the mayor of El Rosario, “it is one of the most important works” for the upper area of El Rosario because the current La Esperanza health center “does not meet the minimum conditions required for it to provide a quality service” . “It is an already very old facility that needs to be replaced by a modern and efficient infrastructure for the benefit of both the neighbors and the health professionals themselves,” explained the councilor from Rosario.
The mayor of Rosario assures that the new center “will dignify health care for citizens”
The director of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), Conrado Domínguez, and Escolástico Gil himself presented in November last year the project for the construction of the new Local Clinic of La Esperanza with which the health care provided in this area will be reinforced. municipality.
The City Council of El Rosario has been so far-sighted that it formalized in April the purchase of a 598-square-meter plot located next to the site on which the Canary Islands Government Health Department will build the new La Esperanza center. The objective is to already have space for a future expansion of the office whose construction works will begin in the coming months after its award.
The health plot attached to the future medical center was acquired by the Consistory for 49,888 euros and will allow the expansion of the building, whose initial project was drawn up in 2016 in accordance with the needs defined in the Health Infrastructure Plan 2005-2010. For this reason, the expansion of the land destined for health use will make it possible to expand the future local clinic when necessary and guarantees the viability to offer other health benefits within primary care.
