SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The catalog of the exhibition ‘Ilustradoras & Ilustradas 2’ has been presented this Thursday in an act held in the Parliament of the Canary Islands where the collective exhibition of 106 women artists remains installed until the end of May.
Through its 243 pages, the book will serve to immortalize “one of the most spectacular exhibitions that has passed through Parliament,” said the president of the Chamber, Gustavo Matos.
As in its first edition, Ediciones Idea publishes this catalog which forms part of the ‘The Foundation’s Archives’ collection and includes the works and a bibliographic review of each of the authors.
At the event, both Francisco Pomares, president of the Fundación Canaria Cine + Comics, and Rafael Yanes, Deputy of the Canary Islands, highlighted the importance of facilitating access to the content of the exhibition, for which, in addition to the paper edition , can be visited virtually through the Foundation’s website.
For Matos, “Ilustradoras&Ilustradas2 is special due to many circumstances, it is important in itself and, furthermore, it highlights the role of women in art, historically unknown and even hidden.”
Along these lines, he recalled that in this tenth Legislature, one of the objectives is “to achieve a better-known Parliament, and this exhibition brings closer a public that probably comes into contact with the institution for the first time.”
He also said that it is a “strictly female” exhibition for which he offered the headquarters of the Chamber in its third edition. “These doors are open,” she advanced.
The exhibition is organized by the Fundación Cine+Cómics and the Moebius Cultural Chair of the University of La Laguna, curated by Camila Pomares. It is sponsored by the Parliament of the Canary Islands, the Common Council, the La Caixa Foundation and the support of the Cabildo de Tenerife through its Tenerife Violeta programme.
