“Unpresentable, rude and very macho”. This is how residents and merchants of the Teis neighborhood define Ángel Martínez, the 83-year-old from Redonda accused of stabbing his wife to death this Wednesday in the Tenerife town of Los Cristianos. Instead, for her, Clotilde Rodríguez, 82, only have good words: “She was a very good woman,” they say.
They both lived on Calle Sanjurjo Badía, although for years they had spent the winters in Canary Islandswhere one of his two daughters also lived for health reasons.
Acquaintances of the couple consulted by FARO DE VIGO, a media outlet that belongs to the same editorial group as this newspaper, agree in affirming that the couple always had conflicts due to his character, “a tremendous pimp” who liked to go shirtless and flaunting chains and gold rings. He also boasted about his stay in Tenerife. Precisely about five years ago, say the neighbors, Ángel began to go alone to the island while Clotilde stayed in Vigo. Nevertheless, this year they had decided to get back together.
The couple was also well known in the Berbés market, where they had run a fish stall.
