The 83 year old man that during the afternoon of yesterday Wednesday stabbed to death his wife inside a house in Los Cristianos, in the municipality of Arona (Tenerife)It was for years a habitual abuser. However, he had no police or judicial record for gender violencenor did it appear in any official database, since the victim never decided to report it.
Although at first it emerged as a possible trigger for sexist crime, the sources consulted explain that It is a lie that the individual suffered some type of terminal illness and that this would lead him to end the life of his partner. It is known that he could be a hypochondriac person, but that he only had pathologies associated with his age.
In any case, said health circumstance cannot be considered any justification to perpetrate a crime of these characteristics, as explained by some sources consulted.
the male, identified as Angel Martinezis the one that appeared in the mailbox of the house where the events occurred. Clotilde Rodríguez, 82, died after receiving several stab wounds. Both were natives of Vigo. After killing his wife, the octogenarian made several stab cuts, with the intention of taking his own life or, at least, simulating it.
People close to the marriage admit that, with relative frequency, Clotilde suffered physical and psychological abuse. In the area where the murder occurred, several people explained that Ángel “lost his mind” on some occasions.
The alleged perpetrator of the murder is still admitted to a hospital, although, in principle, there is no fear for his life. In addition, he remains guarded by agents of the National Police, since, as soon as the medical personnel consider it appropriate, his rights will be read to him and he will be officially informed that he is detained for the crime of intentional homicide.
Both spent long vacation periods in Los Cristianos. Concretely, they lived in an apartment in the Pepita building, at number 37 on Avenida de Los Playeros. This pedestrian street is located in the heart of Los Cristianos, very close to the church square of Nuestra Señora del Carmen.
According to neighbors and people in the area, Clotilde barely left the house due to unknown circumstances. And some people who work on Avenida de Los Playeros only remember her leaning out of the balcony of her apartment.
On the morning of this Thursday, the autopsy is performed on the octogenarian at the Institute of Legal Medicine of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where the real cause of death will be determined, as well as whether the victim suffered cruelty on the part of the man or not.
The investigation of this matter, as is usual in these cases, has been assumed by the Women’s Family Unit (UFAM) of the Judicial Police Brigade of the National Police of the South Tenerife Police Station.
