Since last Friday, the Canary Islands have registered four deaths and 918 new positives in COVID-19 among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is followed up after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.
This has been reported by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, following the new indicators included in the Strategy for Surveillance and Control of COVID-19, agreed by the Ministry of Health with the autonomous communities.
Of the total number of deaths, two have been in Tenerife and another two in Gran Canaria. The deceased, aged between 83 and 95 years, except for one case of 38 years, had previous pathologies and were hospitalized.
The accumulated number of coronavirus cases among people over 60 years of age amounts to 58,917 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 729.44 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 380.37.
Currently, in the Archipelago there are 251 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 15 are in the ICU and the rest, 236, on the ward.
