Tenerife wines lead the participation of the Canary Islands in the eleventh edition of Fenavin, the most important monographic wine fair in Spain, which will be held in Ciudad Real until this Thursday, May 12. Of the twelve participating wineries, eight are from Tenerife, which highlights the weight of the Island in the island’s wine scene.
The island councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Javier Parrilla, highlighted the importance of this event, “that each edition attracts prominent buyers, companies, sommeliers and professionals from the national and international gastronomic and hospitality sectors”, and he was convinced that the Island will be “a very important pole of attraction”.
“Tenerife has an unparalleled wine wealth and this event is an important national and international showcase that will allow us to continue delving into the strategy of promoting the island’s wines to facilitate their access and sale in Spain and Europe,” he maintains.
For his part, the island director of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Cayetano Silva, announced that they are already holding meetings with representatives and distributors from countries such as Iceland, Canada, Denmark, Japan or the United States, with which the island’s expectations at this fair “are very good”.
This biennial fair returns after it could not be held in 2021 as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, “and Tenerife had to be present here, making its wide and diverse oenological offer known so that our wines begin to really appreciate outside our borders”.
Tenerife attends this event with a space of 110 square meters and, specifically, attendees can learn about and taste the wines from the Loher, Viñátigo, El Sitio, Linaje del Pago, Monje, Piedra Fluida, Cándido Hernández Pío and Bodegas Insulares wineries. from Tenerife.
In 2019, 1,946 exhibiting wineries and cooperatives from all over the national territory were present at Fenavin, distributed in nine pavilions. In total, 14,115 national buyers and 4,225 international buyers met, and 495,000 business contacts were closed through the various programs.
