The City Council of La Laguna, from the Works, Infrastructure and Accessibility area, has carried out, during this past week, the installation of a series of bollards in a square located in the El Cardonal urbanization, after receiving several neighborhood complaints about inadequate car parking in this pedestrian zone, where, in addition, there is a citizen center where associations for the elderly carry out activities.
“Once the incident was verified and that the cars were indeed parking inside the square, the municipal technicians designed a strategy to place bollards, some fixed and others mobile that can be removed and put on in case you have to access the square for any service, and thus put an end to the problem of misuse of parking in this square in El Cardonal”, explained the councilor of the municipal area, Josimar Hernández.
Works that were undertaken during this past week, previously remembering, with signage, the prohibition of parking in the area, so that the vehicles that were still parked in said urbanization square were removed.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Security, Alejandro Marrero, also announced, in the last plenary session based on a PP motion, a project to end mobility problems in the environment of a school in Valle Tabares, especially at the entrance and departure of the students, which is causing traffic congestion in the area and inadequate parking in the Antonio de la Rosa Díaz park.
A solution agreed with fathers, mothers, neighbors and businessmen in the area and that will mean “the elimination of parking lots on the TF-111 road, on the right margin, to make a third lane from Las Casas street to La Piterita road, to join directly towards the school area and leaving the road that goes towards La Cuesta free, so the flow of traffic would be greatly improved”, and which will also include a small roundabout and other elements. The councilor explained that the solution already has the approval of the Cabildo, since the road is an island, and now the Works area is finishing the drafting of the project, to which the Cabildo will also have to give its final approval.
Marrero indicated that Obras is also “working on the search for elements to improve the park and not allow vehicles to access where they usually park.”
