The Civil Guard agents on duty with the Rio Duero high-seas patrol boat, as well as an auxiliary vessel with two other agents, immediately began navigation to the place where the crew members and their boat were, maintaining communications with the crew at all times. they.

Once they saw the sailboat and its crew in the water, the agents proceeded to rescue them, pulling them out of the water and transferring them to the Río Duero ship, from where first aid was given to the two rescued (removal of wet clothes, thermal blankets and consumption of warm isotonic drinks) due to mild symptoms of hypothermia.

Next, the Civil Guard agents began the work of righting the damaged boat when the sail was found completely in the water.

The rescue, explains the Benemérita, was carried out “quickly and effectively”, although the boat presented various damages. On the other hand, it was possible to recover all the belongings of the crew members and the supplies of the boat, which were later delivered to the owner and shipowner.
