Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Maritime Service of the Command of Santa Cruz of Teneriferescued at noon last Saturday the two crew members of a sailboat who were in dangersince they had fallen into the sea, after the capsize of the boat that had lost its stability.
The Civil Guard officers in service with the Rio Duero offshore patrol boat, as well as an auxiliary vessel with two other agents, immediately began navigation to the place where the crew members and their vessel were, maintaining communications with them at all times.
Once they visualized the boat and its crew in the waterthe agents proceeded to their rescue, pulling them out of the water and transferring them to the Rio Duero ship, from where first aid was given to the two rescued (removal of wet clothes, thermal blankets and consumption of warm isotonic drinks) for presenting mild symptoms of hypothermia.
Next, the agents of the Civil Guard began the work of righting the sinister vessel because the sail is completely in the water.
Finally, the rescue is carried out quickly and effectively, the two rescued being stable and presenting the sinister vessel various damages. It was possible to recover all the belongings of the crew members and the supplies of the boat, which were later delivered to the owner and shipowner.
