The traditional carts Peakin tejina, opened the long-awaited pilgrimage season yesterday in La Laguna after the long hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. An unmissable event in this nucleus of the municipality of Aguere, whose neighbors have made an effort to keep alive one of the youngest pilgrimages in Tenerife.
The event in honor of San Isidro Labrador was held yesterday afternoon with great public participation during a day in which the good weather accompanied at all times and in which traditional Canarian music, roast meat, good wine and kneaded gofio, which were enjoyed by families and friends around traditional carts while they were pulled by pilgrims.
At the end of the traditional pilgrimage, a verbena took place in which the Guaydil group and the Acapulco orchestra performed.
The festive program began last Friday with a performance by the musical group Achamán and will continue for six days.
The celebration continues today on Carretero’s Day and will continue on Friday the 13th, with the Youth Night and various performances, while on Saturday the 14th there will be a food collection and from 9:00 p.m., there will be a magician’s dance, enlivened by the Grupo Guaydil. The celebration of this 2022 will close next Sunday, May 15, with the function in honor of San Isidro Labrador.
War Valley, the next
That same day will be the Valle de Guerra pilgrimage, also in honor of San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza, the next on the calendar. This nucleus started on Tuesday with the festive acts with the presentations of the poster and the book San Isidro, by Julio Torres, while on Friday the concert of Los Vándalos took place and yesterday, the dance of magicians.
The valley festivities will last until Monday 16, when the concentration of cars will take place in the church square.
