The Municipality of La Laguna seeks plots that can be rented in 53 points of the municipality, specifically, in areas where there are high population and traffic densities, to create public car parks. The lease is the formula that the Consistory will use to respond to the lack of parkingand is already finalizing the specifications for the tender, in which the general conditions that the land must meet will be established and for which a credit of two million euros has been reserved.
The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, stated that this “novel” measure will allow the generation of “new temporary parking spaces in those areas with the greatest need, as they contain public services, a great economic and social activity and are residential areas with a large number of inhabitants. ”. An action whose ultimate objective is “to improve the quality of life of the population, but without forgetting another of our purposes: to promote sustainable mobility in the city,” he added.
The creation of more public places “is one of the demands that is most repeated among citizens” and the City Council has planned various actions “to provide a solution”. In addition to the transformation of disused municipal lots and the conditioning of others that already have this utility, the temporary rental of private land in “key spaces” will be added, Gutiérrez pointed out.
The Department of Works, directed by Josimar Hernández, and the municipal company Muvisa are in charge of implementing this measure. While the first will deal with the conditioning of the plots, the second will focus on the management of rentals.
The CEO of the entity, Ignacio Viciana, explained that “they have been working together for some time on issues such as the award criteria, the delimitation of the reference points and the establishment of the requirements that the land must meet, in order to be able to lease tender.
The technical and administrative specifications that will govern the contest are “quite advanced” and some of the aspects that will be valued are “the state of conservation of the plots and the surface, greater than 400 square meters and with direct access to the road”. In addition, “the urban situation” and other conditions “that allow confirming the viability for this use” will be analyzed.
