SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through a grant of 434,917 euros, has financed the rehabilitation works on the Tierra del Trigo highway, in the municipality of Los Silos, which have been carried out by the Silos City Council and have already been completed.
The area counselor for Natural Environment Management and Security, Isabel García, and the mayor, Macarena Fuentes, visited the site this Friday.
“We have provided the City Council with the rehabilitation of this road, which connects the center of Los Silos with the hamlet of Tierra del Trigo, a road that runs through an important site of scientific interest for the island, with spectacular landscapes of thermophilic forest”, commented the councilor Isabel García, who added that in this way they contribute “to facilitating the access of the neighbors in safety conditions, and also of many people who travel from El Tanque to the lower island by this route”.
For her part, the mayor, Macarena Fuentes, stressed that she sees with “particular satisfaction” that this project began in 2017, executed in several phases, and that it has had to overcome several delays due to bureaucratic procedures and restrictions due to the crisis. health can be completed, and added that it is “a very important action for road communications between the center of the municipality and the middle of the town, allowing to have a road that runs through a protected natural area, in better conditions and with the necessary security measures for the circulation of vehicles both for neighbors and for road users in general”.
The work has been divided into three sections, an initial part, closer to the Tierra del Trigo farmhouse, another intermediate part that runs through the Interian Site of Scientific Interest and a final part that connects with the TF 42 road.
The Site of Scientific Interest of Interián is a cliff of great landscape value. It houses an interesting community of thermophilic forest, with magnificent populations of seedlings, blood sticks, barbuzanos, palm trees and dragon trees.
Among the flora, many protected species stand out, such as chahorra (Sideretiskuegleriana) and cabezón (Cheirolophus webbianus).
On the other hand, the entire cliff represents a scenic flank for the low island, of great aesthetic value, which continues to the east through the rest of the protected landscape of the cliffs of La Caleta, and to the west, through the cliffs of Teno. .
