The National Police warns about a new scam detected in Tenerife

The National Police informs the public, especially those establishments open to the public that are required by law to have a first-aid kit or similar, of a new form of fraud recently detected.

The investigators were aware of two different complaints, filed last April in the city of Los Adelantados, along with others carried out in the towns of Adeje and Puerto de la Cruz. In them, scams carried out in establishments through the same modus operandi were brought to light.

An individual, posing as an Occupational Risk Inspector or similar, entered the establishment under the pretext of supervising the change of medicine cabinet. After gaining the trust of the staff, he proceeded to change it, charging amounts that could reach up to 380 euros.

To make it more truthful, he provided a supposed invoice that collected the service provided. In all cases, the scams committed were for an amount of less than 400 euros, possibly to avoid police arrest in his case.

The National Police investigation has identified him. He is a 44-year-old man with multiple police records. He, in turn, has related it to several acts committed in different locations in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife through the same procedure.

The researchers do not rule out that new affected people appear after these facts are known by the public.

The proceedings have been brought to the attention of the competent judicial authority.

The actions were carried out by national police officers from the La Laguna National Police Station.
