The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, visited Candelaria yesterday afternoon to see first-hand the projects and actions carried out in the municipality. He makes a tour of the three actions carried out or planned by his Government in the Villa Mariana.
Torres, who was accompanied by the Minister of Ecological Transition, José Antonio Valbuena, was “delighted to collect some proposals from the local Corporation to attend to in the future”, warning that the actions planned in the municipality “are plans historically claimed by the Government Candelaria location. In addition, he advanced that “relevant steps have already been taken with some of them, which have already approved technical projects, works in progress and the first economic contributions in the Canary Islands Budget for 2022”.
The idea shared by both public administrations is “to move them forward to improve key infrastructures to maintain and enhance the Welfare State in the municipality of Candelaria”, of great importance within the Archipelago. “I wish to express my deepest gratitude to the president for being in Candelaria today, it is the first time for almost 20 years that a president of the Canary Islands visits the municipality, without the reason of the Fiestas in honor of the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands. We are very happy with this meeting, which serves to be able to see the great work and effort that is carried out in the Villa by the Government of the Canary Islands, with investments of a considerable volume both in the health field, as well as in education and environmental sustainability”, commented Mari Brito.
After signing the Town Hall’s book of honor, which records that the last institutional visit of a regional president outside the festivities was in 2005, they began with a walking tour of Calle La Arena, which took them to the area of San Blas, next to the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias, where the San Blas Wastewater Pumping Station and Impulsion to the Güímar Valley Regional WWTP will be built, which has a budget of 8,908,695.54 euros per part. of the Autonomous Community.
The second stop was at the Huertas de Don Pablo plot, site of the new Candelaria Health Center, where the Autonomous Community will invest 60,000 euros in drafting the project. Finally, already underway, he visited the construction of the CEIP Punta Larga canteen, with a budget of 386,724.63 euros, and which will allow almost 500 children to use the service.
“On July 1, the transfer of Costas will be completed”
Torres was asked about the problem that Candelaria endures with Costas’s refusal to renew concessions such as those for the swimming pool and rotating parking, among other conflicts. The president spoke of the transfer of powers and stated that “we hope to assume Costas on July 1”, although he recalled that “it has not been easy, but we already have the agreed text, but we cannot do it in any way, without seeing resources and media. There are autonomies that took five years to assume it, ”he explained.
