Brian MayLondon musician and guitarist of the group What inpublished this Friday his new music video for ‘Otro Lugar’, a Spanish version of the song that gave title to his solo album Another Worldfrom 1998, which has now been reissued. The video clip shows spectacular landscapes of the Canary Islandssuch as the Teide Observatory, in Tenerife, and a “dear tree” from the island of El Hierro that already appeared on the album cover in its day.
With this Spanish version of her single ‘Another World’, May wanted, according to Universal Music, make a “special gift to the Spanish world” that has always been “incredibly kind” with the musical group Queen and with him, said the artist.
“This has been a dream for me, revisit the places that fed my life and they also fueled the creation of this album, in particular the pine forest surrounding the central volcano, El Teide. That forest is a very special place for me, for many reasons. It’s the place I want to be when I leave this planet, because for me it’s the closest place to Heaven,” he said.
It should be remembered that just two months ago, May He already released another video recorded on Teide in which he sang the Queen song ’39’.
Brian May presented the remastered Gold Series reissue of his 1998 solo album Another World on April 22 from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, accompanied by some new music videos.
A job in which, in addition to ‘On My Way Up’ and Buddy Holly’s version of ‘Maybe Baby’, Brian included this video made public this Friday for the main song in his “beloved” Canary Islands.
Specifically, the video clip was recorded in Tenerife, where the guitarist of Queen studied for his doctorate in Physics at the Teide Observatory, high up in the volcanic landscape. He also moved to La Palma, where he has worked in the Starmus in recent timesand to the island of El Hierro.
May premiered his new music video ‘Another World’ last week and this Friday the Spanish version premieres, ‘Otro Lugar’, a shoot about which the artist has said that the Spanish version has “been better than the English” .
“As strange as it sounds, we managed to shoot a lot more in Spanish than in English, and maybe I worked on it more, I don’t know. But it seems that the shots are very well done. If you see it (and you are an English speaker), keep in mind that the words in Spanish mean almost exactly the same as the words in English. They are about a parallel universe and what could have happened in ‘Another World,'” May added.
an iconic tree
As for the El Hierro tree, in his words, it is a “great symbol” of Another World: “It is a very old tree. It is a kind of juniper. A juniper, as they call it here. But its form is extraordinary, it has grown in a very harsh environment with constant strong winds. So the only way it has survived is bending over,” he explained.
And as a result of this video, May confessed that she made an “incredible” trip to these three islands and “the gods” have been with the film crew.
“I don’t know if anyone is looking out for us because everywhere we’ve been we’ve had perfect shooting time, and this video should be great,” he concluded.
