The youth area of the City Council of the Tenerife municipality of San Juan de la Rambladirected by the mayor Priscila Diaz (PSOE)turn on a free psychological assistance service for young people between 12 and 30 years of age whose objective is “to serve as support in one of the the most complex life processesin which one goes from the childhood period to adulthood and finishes configuring the personality, understanding this period as one of the most prone to disorders due to changes and uncertainty”.
Expected to start from May 13, this service will be provided every Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Youth House. Will be in charge of the health psychologist Leticia Abreu Garcíawith extensive experience in therapeutic interventions from the behavioral and psychoeducational approach. You will hear young people using group psychotherapy techniquewhich seeks to build a solid foundation in all participants that serves as a platform to overcome various states such as anxiety or depression, thanks to the so-called hall of mirrors in which the members see themselves reflected in others and thus adopt new points of view. Group therapy, in this case, is configured as a resource to overcome trauma, thanks to the fact that it offers the possibility of living a substitute emotional experience.
“San Juan de la Rambla takes a step forward in terms of caring for its population, understanding that mental health is a priority to guarantee good personal development in our young people,” says Díaz. “With this new service, at no cost to participants, the youth area expands the range of resources that are available to our neighbors, becoming a leader in terms of benefits”.
