The political organization has explained in a statement that the conflict dates back to the last legislature, “in which José Alberto Díaz and Javier Abreu agreed to deprive the opposition groups of temporary staff, support staff and appointed advice. by the Mayor’s Office in compliance with the Organic Regulations of the Lagunera Corporation (art. 55.4).

This decision by Díaz and Abreu, recalls the party, was appealed by the Councilor for Urban Development Santiago Pérez (PSOE). This appeal was later contested by the current progressive government and reestablished “democratic legality and the rights of opposition groups by providing them with temporary staff as soon as they arrived.”

“It is true that it was taken by way of urgency, but it is also true that there was never a previous discussion in the City Council of La Laguna about whether or not an issue that is on the agenda in that way is urgent or not. The urgency is simply voted by majority, it is included and discussed”, Avante has defended.

However, the former mayor of La Laguna “wants to tear down” the agreement “from a distance”, Avante La Laguna has assured.
