The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Canary Islands Government contributes 578,947 euros to the City Council to carry out the La Huerta Grande project in Vilaflor: Green and productive forest. The councilor responsible for the area, José Antonio Valbuena, considers that the works will contribute to the improvement of the rural landscape and the sustainability of the municipality. “It will contribute to boosting the economy and the leisure offer of Vilaflor de Chasna.”
Agustina Beltrán highlights the impact that the project will have on the municipality, “a before and after that will facilitate and accelerate the transition towards sustainability and the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.” In addition, it will be “an economic and growth boost for Vilaflor”.
The project will be carried out on an estate of 12,000 square meters located in the vicinity of the historic center. The first phase of the work is aimed at conditioning the Huerta Grande for its subsequent agroforestry exploitation; in the second, the forestry service, labeling work and maintenance will be carried out. The term to conclude the action will expire on December 1, 2023.
The grant will cover 75.82% of the total planned investment, budgeted at 763,538 euros, and is framed in the Strategic Subsidy Plan of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning.
