SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 2. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved the contracting file for the execution of the second phase of the project to improve Avenida del Emigrante, in the center of Playa de San Juan, in Guía de Isora.
The action will soon go out to public tender with a budget of 2,228,000 euros, of which the Cabildo contributes 1,859,000 euros and the City Council the remaining 369,000 euros, to continue with the remodeling of the promenade.
The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, has indicated that with this action “we take another step in the rehabilitation of the promenade, so that both the neighbors, as well as those who visit it, can enjoy quality infrastructures”.
“From the Cabildo we carry out this much-needed work for Playa de San Juan, which required a transformation due to the wear and tear of the years, with the consequent benefit it will have for the socioeconomic and tourist development in the municipality,” he added.
Pedro Martín highlighted that from the Cabildo “conditioning and improvement work has been carried out at different points of the island’s coastline, providing them with infrastructures that generate added value to the destination, so that they can have modern and more accessible facilities, respectful of the natural environment”.
For the mayor of Guía de Isora, Josefa Mesa, “this work will mean a continuation of the work already begun to improve open shopping areas. The first phase carried out on Avenida del Emigrante has meant a major makeover for the coastline, with spaces more spacious for restoration and for the comfort of passers-by. We are very happy that the Cabildo continues to bet on recovering the coastline for public use, with actions such as those carried out not only in Playa de San Juan but also between Alcalá and Varadero”.
Laura Castro, island director of Tourism, indicated, for her part, that with these works “we will continue advancing in the renovation of the avenue. The Island Corporation is making an important effort to recover this public space and improve its infrastructure, as as we have been doing in different tourist spots on the island”.
In this second stage of the work, the scope of action will cover the section of Avenida del Emigrante from Isla de El Hierro street to Marejadilla street, “prioritizing the public use of the avenue to make it more accessible to pedestrians. To For this, the sidewalks will be widened, to favor pedestrian traffic, and there will also be tree-lined areas on the promenade to offer shade to the population,” said the island director.
“With this action, we value one of the most important spaces in the core of Playa de San Juan. In addition, the improvement of the urban environment will also give added value to the commercial area and the use of restaurant and cafeteria terraces”, Indian.
