the mayor of Tacoronte, Jose Daniel Diaz (NC)announces that transfer to prosecutor the conclusions that the opposition court will soon reach Local police what last tuesday april 26 had to interrupt an exam after detecting the use of wireless technology so that at least one applicant could receive the correct answers from abroad, copy them and thus fraudulently obtain a municipal official position.

The good ear of one of the members of the Tacorontero courtwhich is made up of officials from other public administrations, made it possible to detect a murmur coming from the belongings that the applicants had left in a corner of the room where the exam was being held, in the House of Culture of Tacoronte, located in the Plaza del Cristo. That sound came from a mobile phone that had had an active call for many minutes in which someone, from the outside, could see the exam, with the help of a microcamera carried by the examineeand dictated the correct answers through a mini-earpiece that the offender would have lodged in his ear canal.

Jose Daniel Diaz details that the fraud could be detected thanks to the fact that the mini-pinganillo that the opponent was carrying “probably lost its connection bluetooth with the mobile phone, so when this happened the speaker of the device was connected and that allowed the court to hear the whisper» that was dictating the answers. «We are talking about a very elaborate system that, through some type of micro-camera (probably in glasses or a button), allowed the direct reading of the exam to dictate the questions through an earpiece. And that supposes a very worrying degree of sophistication, which gives the feeling that it involves organized people».

“I am very worried”

The mayor of Tacoronte, José Daniel Díaz (NC), acknowledges that, although the Tacoronte City Council is only one victim of this attempted fraud in public competitions for Local Police, he remains “very concerned” because “when one of the These selective processes are done to select the best applicants, and this can only be demonstrated through a process guided by the principles of equality, merit and ability. And when someone commits this type of outrage, in the end what they are doing is violating the system and defrauding, in this case, the city council and the people of Tacoronte, who assume a significant cost in organizing an opposition process so that, in the end, cheaters may end up winning a place and not the most capable people».

Police sources have confirmed to EL DÍA that both the offender and the person on the other end of the phone have been identified. In the case of the aspiring police officer involved, it so happens that he left the room at the time the fraud was detected, alleging indisposition, and that he subsequently withdrew the mobile phone that had the active call.

Jose Daniel Diaz expects to receive “an extensive record”, prepared by the members of the court, “in which everything that happened that day will be collected and why they made the decision to suspend the exam, which will be held again on July 19 in a room equipped with frequency inhibitors». The Tacorontero Consistory has no doubts about the legality of the tests carried out previously, but Díaz is clear that what happened in this exam “will be transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office so that they are the ones who act and determine the responsibilities. They have to investigate it because we, as a city council, cannot go forward in the search for those responsible or clarify what is behind all this.

“The Prosecutor’s Office will have to investigate it because we, as a city council, cannot continue in the search for those responsible or clarify what is behind all this”

What he has already decided Tacorontero Consistory is that it is going to put up all the technological barriers to try to prevent this fraud from being repeated in future processes. «We have made the decision that all the oppositions that we organize from now on be developed with frequency inhibitors, which avoid the use of these devices, or in rooms equipped with this technology. Besides, We will try to be even more exquisite when it comes to trying to prevent any kind of betrayal of the system.», warns the tacorontero president.
