With the 642 available tables reserved in just 45 minutes, and with a capacity for some 14,000 people, everything suggests that this encounter with Canarian folklore and local character will become one of the events of the May Festivities that will go down in history. for your participation.
The Autonomous Organization for Fiestas and Recreational Activities (Oafar) is working under the forecast of a massive influx, and for this, today, at nine in the morning, the self-protection plan for the festive meeting will be addressed, a meeting in which Firefighters, Civil Protection, Local Police, the director of the Security Plan and the private security company that the City Council has hired to reinforce the environment will be present. This was confirmed to DIARIO DE AVISOS by the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, who advanced that, given the massive influx that is expected, support has been requested from the National Police Yet the Canary Police.
“The Ball of Magi is usually one of the quietest events for the number of people who usually participate, because it is a very familiar audience”, recognized the mayor of Fiesta. For this reason, “where more work or effort will have to be done is in the part of the festival that starts after twelve at night”, he added.
Cabello admits that “the City Council is preparing for one of the most massive Ball of Magicians, probably in history. We have ten entrances, and we are going to have about 35 people only from private security to reinforce order; In addition, support has been requested from the National Police Corps and the Canarian Police, and also from the Local Police. The objective is to keep everything in order, although, I insist, this is a day that shines for its tranquility and for being a family audience”.
Dance of the Magi and verbena
As the mayor of Fiestas explains, “we are preparing for a massive influx, not only because of the speed at which tickets were sold, but also because of the number of inquiries about the possibility of entering without a ticket that have reached us.”
As for the organization of the Ball of Magi, most of the tables were already set up since yesterday, to finish the assembly of those that most affect the traffic of people and the restaurants that are in the area. It is also remembered from Fiestas that to access it is mandatory to be dressed in typical Canarian clothing.
As detailed by Cabello, “we also anticipate that, until midnight, a purer sense will be maintained, so to speak, with the parrandas (there will be six), the Taifa dances, on three stages such as the Campo de Castro, Plaza de Europa and Plaza de La Concepción”.
Starting at twelve o’clock at night “we will give prominence to the verbena, which will also have a more popular approach and nothing salsa,” said the mayor, who added that, “in addition, there will be a DJ to facilitate the change of instruments between the orchestras (Sonora Olympia and Malibú Band) and avoid downtime”. Alfonso Cabello concluded by acknowledging that “we hope it will be a historic day in Santa Cruz and that it will be the most massive act after the pandemic and the first to return to the streets.”
