Metrotenerife, operator of the Cabildo de Tenerife tram, will adapt its Line 1 service for the Santa Cruz Magicians’ Ball, which will take place on the night of next Monday, May 2, so that from 7:00 p.m. on this day the trams will only go as far as the Teatro Guimerá stop. In other words, during the celebration of the Baile de Magos, Line 1 will operate between the La Trinidad and Teatro Guimerá stops in order to guarantee the safety of the service and of those attending this traditional festival. The trams will end their service at midnight on Monday the 2nd, which will restart at 06:00 on the morning of Tuesday the 3rd with the usual frequencies.
Enrique Arriaga, island councilor for Mobility and president of Metrotenerife, points out that “the tram is an ideal transport alternative to get to the Baile de Magos due to the proximity of the Teatro Guimerá stop to the area marked off for the party between La Concepción, La Noria , Bravo Murillo and surroundings”. It adds that from 7:00 p.m. on Monday the 2nd and until midnight, when Line 1 will end its service, the trams will be operating normally between La Laguna and Santa Cruz every 6, 12 and 15 minutes, depending of the time slot.
Faced with a foreseeable increase in demand, the island’s director of Mobility, José Alberto León, recalls that it is necessary to continue protecting oneself against the coronavirus. In this sense, he emphasizes that the use of the mask is mandatory inside public transport and also recommended at stops in the event that the safety distance cannot be maintained.
