The canarian regional deputies 1.7 million euros have been paid in allowances and compensation for attendance at meetings and sessions of Parliament since the beginning of the legislature, an average of 738 euros per month each, according to the data provided by the regional chamber in its Web page.
The subsistence allowance vary among deputies, because they are charged based on their attendance at plenary sessions, commissions or other types of parliamentary activities, as well as the position of each one, and the minimum of more than 4,000 euros of income is added to the salary and supplements monthly averages in the case of ordinary deputies.
The deputy The one who has received the most allowances is the President of Parliament, Gustavo Matos (PSOE), who has added 74,619 euros since the legislature began in July 2019, at an average of 2,261 euros in the 33 months that have elapsed.
The deputy who has received the least allowances or attendance premiums is Lucas Bravo de Laguna, from CC-PNC, who adds a total of 8,726 euros, equivalent to 264 euros on average per month.
The amount of the allowances is not the same for all deputies and in general it is the members of the Parliamentary Bureau, the spokespersons and the presidents of the groups who receive the most compensation for attending Parliament. Also the deputies of the peripheral islands charge a higher per diem than those of Gran Canaria, and even more than those of Tenerife.
For example, an ordinary deputy from Tenerife receives 60 euros per diem for attending a meeting or session in Parliament, 83 if he is from Gran Canaria and 113 if he is from one of the other islands.
In the case of a spokesperson or member of the Bureau, the per diem goes up to 90, 130 or 160, depending on the island, and if you are president of Parliament the sum reaches 145 euros if you are from Tenerife, as at present, 175 if you are from Gran Canaria and 180 if you are from a peripheral island.
Gustavo Matos is the only deputy who exceeds an average monthly income in diets of more than 2,000 euros.
He is followed by thirteen deputies who since the beginning of the legislature have exceeded one thousand euros per month in average income from per diems: Jorge González (PSOE, La Palma, 1,572 euros), Luis Campos (NC, Gran Canaria, 1,501), Luz Reverón (PP, Tenerife , 1,483), Rosa Dávila (CC-PNC, Tenerife, 1,453), Nayra Alemán (PSOE, Gran Canaria, 1,370), José Miguel Barragán (CC-PNC, autonomous constituency, 1,335), Esther González (NC, Gran Canaria, 1,318 ), Vidina Espino (Mixed group, Gran Canaria, 1,231), Manuel Domínguez (PP, Tenerife, 1,191), Australia Navarro (PP, Gran Canaria, 1,182), Jesús Ramos Chinea (ASG, La Gomera, 1,147), Melodie Mendoza ( ASG, La Gomera, 1,044) and Manuel Marrero (SPC, Tenerife, 1,016).
By parliamentary group, the three deputies from ASG are the ones who have received the most allowances since the beginning of the legislature, 32,889 euros each on average, followed by the four from Nueva Canarias (31,507), the two from the Mixed group (29,197) and the eleven of the PP (26,792).
Below the average are the 25 deputies of the PSOE, with 23,724 euros each in allowances on average, the only non-attached deputy (Sandra Domínguez, with 21,726), the twenty deputies of the CC-PNC (21,212), and the four from Sí Podemos Canarias (20,544 euros).
By electoral constituency, the deputies of La Gomera are the ones who have received the most allowances per head, at an average of 32,889 each since the beginning of the legislature.
Behind are those of El Hierro (26,579), those of Tenerife (26,535), those of Gran Canaria (25,745), those of Fuerteventura (22,579), those of Lanzarote (22,433), those of La Palma (21,471) and those of the autonomous constituency (19,756).
The distribution of allowances depending on the position is also unequal, so that the five members of the Parliament’s table have received an average of 53,338 euros in allowances each since the beginning of the legislature, more than the spokesmen of the groups, who arrive to 40,652 euros, and both more than double that of the standing deputies, who stay at 20,016 euros.
However, most of the income of the autonomous deputies comes from their salaries, in the case of the 56 who have exclusive dedication.
They range between the 6,732 euros per month that the President of Parliament receives adding all the concepts (except the allowances) and the 4,306 of a standing deputy, with figures for 2021.
The other members of the Bureau of the Parliament, presidents of the parliamentary groups and spokespersons receive an average monthly salary of 5,441 euros and substitute spokespersons 4,874.
