Nearly forty designers and thirty companies from the fashion sector will meet at Tenerife Volcanic Fashion 2022. This is the third edition of this event and the first after the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It will take place from May 6 to 8 at the Recinto Ferial with the novelty of uniting trends and everything that surrounds the industry with young people. Represented in this case by the students of the Fernando Estévez School of Art and the Integrated Center for Professional Training (CIFP) Las Indias, as well as by 27 artists who are members of the Merkarte project.
The Minister of Economic Development, Carmen Luz Baso, highlights as priority objectives “boosting the textile industry, promoting Canarian talent and pursuing a more sustainable business model”. The fair opens for the first time to multi-brand stores and personal care companies in beauty and image, which will share space with Tenerife Moda brands and other designers from Gran Canaria, La Palma and Lanzarote.
Among the novelties, it is worth mentioning the organization of a permanent exhibition on sustainability in which it is intended to sensitize all the actors that participate in the chain of this business.
Specifically, seven panels will be presented with 50 sustainable tips aimed at producers of raw materials, manufacturers, businesses and final consumers, with the aim of moving towards a circular and sustainable industry.
The director of Tenerife Moda, José Sánchez, highlighted the variety of the program. “Fashion is sensory and emotional, so you have to see it and touch it, and this is the basis of the fair,” he commented. He highlighted the presence of the actress and model Laura Sánchez who will explain her business experience.
The fair has an investment of 275,000 euros. Open to the public for an affordable price of two euros, it has different spaces for activities, including parades, workshops and talks. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., except on Sunday when it will end at 7:00 p.m.
