The Ombudsman has reported this Monday that he has initiated an ex officio action requesting information on the death of a minor at the Valle Tabares Center for Minor Offenders in San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Tenerife) on April 18.
The information has been requested from the Ministry of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth of the Canary Islands on the circumstances in which the death of the minor occurred.
Thus, the Ombudsman wants to know the actions carried out by the aforementioned Ministry and by the center where the minor was hospitalized, and has requested information on the suicide prevention protocol.
Likewise, the Ombudsman has addressed the State Attorney General’s Office to find out about the actions followed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Juvenile Court and the Guard Court.
