SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Roads area, is carrying out various improvement works on the island roads of the TF-211 and TF-21 in the municipality of La Orotava, actions that represent an investment of close to two million euros.
It is, according to the first vice president and counselor of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, of several actions both in what is known as Nelson Mandela Avenue (TF-211) and in the general highway that connects the municipality of Orotavense with Santa Úrsula (TF-21) in which an important rehabilitation of the pavement is being carried out, which shows significant deterioration with cracks, cracking of the asphalt, potholes and peeling that required immediate action.
In addition, Arriaga explained that the works include the improvement and conditioning of drainage, the establishment of new pedestrian paths and zebra crossings, as well as the improvement of several bus stops, thus improving accessibility and safety for pedestrians.
In a visit to the area today, the island councilor indicated that in a few weeks the main accesses to La Orotava will be completely finished. And he added that the Highways area is also carrying out other actions in the north of the island, such as the relief lane for access to La Vera, which will allow the roundabout to be avoided and speed up traffic in the area and will reduce queues of vehicles during peak hours. A road through which an average of 50,000 vehicles travel daily.
The insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, explained that as in all the actions that are being carried out in the area, part of the pavement that is removed is being reused, in this way, lower consumption of aggregates is achieved and being eco-sustainable. .
These are rehabilitation works on island roads with significant traffic densities that had not been intervened for decades and that were in poor condition as a result of the passage of time and inclement weather.
