The public aid derived from the volcanic eruption in La Palma already reaches 441.4 million, with a total of 6,532 applications received, according to the latest updated report from the Government of the Canary Islands made public this Monday.
To date, 5,912 files have been initiated –90.51%–, of the 5,588 are signed and 324 are in process.
According to the Canarian Executive, more than 194 million have been paid in aid for housing and accommodation, including 9.2 million for the purchase of 104 houses in Fuencaliente, Tazacorte and Los Llanos; 7.1 million for prefabricated homes or 17.3 million in compensation for loss of home –60,000 euros per affected–.
Likewise, the expenses of people housed in tourist complexes have been covered with more than 3.9 million.
The Insurance Compensation Consortium has paid 149.3 million for 2,231 homes and 4.3 million have been distributed in rental aid.
In social emergency and employment support, just over 82 million have been mobilized, including 60.9 million for the social employment plan, with 1,600 beneficiaries, and almost 13 million in donations.
Thus, the Cabildo de La Palma has distributed 9.4 million to 2,835 families; the City Council of Los Llanos de Aridane, 2.2 million to 1,230 families; Tazacorte, 133,600 euros to 202 families and El Paso, 1.2 million to 460 families.
As for companies, freelancers and economic sectors, the Government quantifies the aid at 60.28 million, distributed mainly among banana growers, who receive 14.6 million; the ‘La Palma Renace’ plan, endowed with 9.4 million or 21.2 million covered by the Insurance Consortium to 252 businesses.
The report also includes a chapter on ‘other aid’, amounting to 105.7 million, which includes 38 million for the new coastal highway, a subsidy of 15 million for the biosphere reserve and nine million for emergency desalination plants.
