Some 5,000 people between neighbors and visitors, according to the Local Police, have gathered this Sunday in Tegueste to enjoy the exhibition of cars and carts that, decorated with seeds, rescue, promote and spread the traditions of the Canary Islands.
Although this year the Pilgrimage of San Marcos -as decided by the local government- one of the most emblematic of Tenerife, fourteen folkloric groups participated in the tour that interpreted a couplet dedicated to each of the carts.
There were also two of the most characteristic and differentiating elements of the festive and religious culture of the municipality: the Dance of the Flowers and the Boats, representatives of the four neighborhoods (Pedro Álvarez, San Luis, Tegueste and El Socorro) that compete in showiness and spectacularity.
After the celebration at noon of the solemn Eucharist, the procession departed from Plaza San Marcos towards La Placeta to return again to the church.
The exhibition can also be visited on Monday, coinciding with the traditional day of the Carretero, in the surroundings of La Placeta, as well as on Tuesday, April 26. The exhibition will then move to St. Mark’s Square.
