The City Council of The slaughter announces an investment of 400,000 euros in the improvement and expansion of the municipal swimming poolwhich will be provided with a bathing area for therapeutic use with 36 meters in length and 150 square meters of useful aquatic surface. According to the local government (PSOE)“it is a versatile space that can occasionally accommodate two streets and that is designed for the development of activities related to health”.
This action, which was awarded last Thursday, April 21, will allow the facility to gain a global useful area of 1,142.55 square meters. The estimated completion time of the works is 5 months..
This action will make it possible to have “a large work area in the water to group or individual sessions, led by physiotherapists and other qualified professionals, in a controlled safety framework both in terms of depth and accessibility. The potential for work on problems related to body mobility due to illness, trauma or aging, as well as other situations in which the aquatic environment facilitates emotional, cognitive and relational interventions”. Some uses that, according to the municipal government, “turn this project into an exciting challenge for the Municipality of La Matanza”.
From the Matanzas Consistory It is recalled that “for more than a decade, this municipality has had a sports facility that has stood out for its ability to generate synergies between its use in sports and the therapeutic potential associated with the aquatic environment. The municipal swimming pool, integrated in the Municipal Sports Complexcurrently has a main vessel for leisure-sports use, and a small thermal vessel for therapeutic and rehabilitative use, equipped with different jet and pressure devices.
“This equipment has enjoyed an extraordinary acceptance since its commissioning, becoming beyond individual use, a space for learning or improving swimming, first aid or sports specialization, as well as for the development of rehabilitation, maintenance and wellness programs aimed at the population of elderly people or pregnant women, among other groups”, recalls the government team that leads Ignatius Rodriguez.
From the northern City Council it is highlighted that during these years they have occasionally undertaken reform and improvement programs, seeking to maintain the facilities and their annexed services in the most optimal conditions, incorporating materials and equipment that would allow them to get more out of their potential, and incorporating technological systems that improve the sustainability of very demanding facilities from the point of view of energy and water resources. Biomass boilers, photovoltaic installations, thermal enclosures and ventilation and filtering systems of the first order, have been contributing greater efficiency and quality to the whole.
After a detailed diagnosis of the current state of the Municipal Pool of La Matanzaand in accordance with the future forecasts and the sports and welfare policies of the City Council, the local government understands that “the time has come to undertake a profound reform of it, which in addition to expanding and redistributing spaces to gain functionality, solve some shortcomings that affect the sustainability of the equipment from the water and energy point of view”.
During the works, the existing vessels will be reformed and, simultaneously, accessibility will be improved, especially in the ramp of the main vessel, which will be relocated and removed from the swimming area, leaving the street that it partially occupied completely free. The new therapeutic glass will allow the installation to be ready to incorporate new services and activities.
