Santa Cruz lived yesterday a Holy Thursday of recollection in which the visit to the churches to admire their monuments became the main activity, on an afternoon in which one of the processional steps that arouses the most fervor in the capital, that of La Macarena and the image of Jesús Cautivo.
As explained by the episcopal vicar of Santa Cruz, Juan Manuel Yanes, “as these are images that are carried by bearers, they have not been able to prepare properly to take La Macarena out in procession, which is why they have chosen not to go out this anus”. Even so, both images could be visited yesterday on their throne in the church of La Concepción, where throughout this Holy Week they have received the devotion of believers.
The Virgin Macarena of Santa Cruz is a replica of the famous Esperanza Macarena of Seville. It was made in 1958 by Antonio Giménez Martínez, being the head of the brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Cautivo and María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena, a subsidiary of the Brotherhood of the Macarena of Seville.
Likewise, the faithful were able to admire yesterday the Eucharistic monuments that were installed in all the temples of the capital, adornments of extraordinary beauty in the altars where the Sacred Form is guarded and its best goldsmith pieces are exhibited.
Santa Cruz has recovered its processions this year and the program continues today, although the Magna procession will not be held as it used to be and in which all the steps participate. Thus, on this occasion, they will only procession, at 8:00 p.m. from La Concepción, the Holy Burial, accompanied by the Virgen de los Dolores, in a shorter route. There will also be other processions, such as that of the Virgen de las Angustias, at 12:00 from the Pilar parish; that of the Lord of Forgiveness, at 1:30 p.m. from San José, or that of Silence, from Santiago Apostol at 5:50 p.m.
