The Procession of the Meeting of La Amargura with the oldest step in Santa Cruz

Calle del Pilar was the meeting point for the Virgen de La Amargura, who starts from the San Francisco church, and El Nazareno, from La Concepción, a parade that this year dispensed with the participation of San Juan to accommodate the act to the recommendation of the covid regulations.

After that face to face between the Mother and the Son near the Plaza del Chicharro, the thrones moved to the entrance of the Plaza del Príncipe, where the meeting has traditionally been held, to make way for the intervention of the Artistic Union El Cabo that, led by the master Israel Espino, lowered the heavenly choirs to the pavilion, where the parish priest of La Concepción and vicar for Santa Cruz, Juan Manuel Yanes, encouraged the participants to be “San Juan” in the search for Jesus .

Although La Macarena and El Cautivo will not come out tonight –which traditionally have been in procession for the last fifty years from La Concepción–, next to the Nazareno, the oldest parade of those who march in Santa Cruz –which dates back to the 17th century– was Paco Cortés, guarding the throne

The presence of the Municipal Music Band of Santa Cruz highlights the Procession of the Encounter, one of the most devoted, with a Plaza del Príncipe to bursting with faithful. Among the authorities, Juan José Martínez, Dámaso Arteaga, Claudia Reverón and Carlos Tarife. On the way back, La Amargura returned to San Francisco, to follow El Nazareno to La Concepción. Procession of the Meeting and reunion, with the former head of Protocol of Santa Cruz, Manuel Pío, and great architect of the rescue of Holy Week in the capital since 1994.
