Miguel Méndez, 4th, and Miguel Padrón, 8th, are the best placed in the provisional classification of the Spanish Championship of the International Optimist Class that began this Thursday at the Club Náutico El Masnou (Barcelona).
They also highlight the first place of Marta Mansito (RCNT) in sub 13 F; the 2nd of Silvia Medina (RCNGC) also in sub 13 F and the 9th of Elena Armas (RCNA) in the sub 16 F category.
The selection of the Royal Canary Islands Sailing Federation in this national event is made up of 20 sailors from Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote.
It has been a very long day on the water, with waves and a balance of only 2 tests held. In the first partial the wind started strong to go down gradually and deflate at the end of the sleeve; the second was done with about 15-17 knots of intensity. In the partial results, the 1st of Jaime Lang Lenton (RCNGC) stands out in the second round of the yellow group.
There are 2 days left of qualifying heats and the final will be on Sunday. A total of 12 heats were scheduled and 2 have been done. A minimum of 6 tests is required in the qualifying heats for the final to be held; if not, the qualifiers will continue.
