Tegueste awards Urbaser the garbage collection service

The The Tegueste City Council has awarded the company Urbaser the contracting of the municipal waste collection and street cleaning service, with a five-year tender and a budget amounting to 4,268,189 euros. This contemplates different improvements with respect to the previous contract.

the mayor, Ana Rosa Menaassures in a note that the novelties of the service, “which will be provided in the entire municipality”, will have a direct impact on the quality of life of the residents and visitors of Tegueste. “This new contract contemplates several innovations, such as the start-up of the separation of organic waste, with the implementation of the brown container, which represents one of the improvements that our town will undergo”indicates the local councillor.

In this sense, the Councilor for Public Services, Ricardo Chico, points out that the bidding for this service was one of the priorities of the current government group. “This is a contract that had already expired in the previous mandate and that we have now carried out,” he explains.

In addition, the mayor points out that the novelties of the new contract, in terms of waste collection, will gradually be incorporated into the service during the first year, and are summarized in the expansion and provision of new machinery, with the incorporation of the collection system of side-loading waste, the installation of the fifth container for the removal of organic waste and the collection of used oil and used clothing and footwear is incorporated within the management. Practically all of the service containers will also be renewed, “which will be fully accessible and equipped with a device for georeferencing.

In addition to these improvements, the press release sent by the City Council states that an increase in the human resources area of 44% is proposed with respect to the current service. “We will have a total of thirteen operators, to which we must add the additional personnel from the structure of the concession company,” says the councilor. With regard to street cleaning, “with the new contract the aim is to achieve excellence in the cleaning of roads and streets through a service with the highest level of efficiency possible”.
