María del Cristo González, 46 years old, administrative, resident in La Laguna and fighter for social rights. The past plenary session of the island took office as counselor of Sí Podemos Canarias in the Cabildo to replace Ruth Acosta. She arrives with the intention of “working for people”, putting them “at the center of decisions” and “contributing to a more sustainable and natural Island”. She premiered with the support of a motion in defense of the livestock sector.
In her first speech, Minister González stressed that her dream “is to leave a better administration to those who come after us.” Its objective is “to help shape a fairer society and a political, economic and social system that offers opportunities and guarantees compliance with the basic rights of citizenship.” González emphasizes her commitment to “work to improve, unite to share and offer alternatives to get out of the crisis with a change in the production model and a new map of strategic sectors for Tenerife”.
Regarding the support for the motion presented by the PSOE to attend to Tenerife’s livestock affected by the war, the councilor declared that it was decided to support this initiative after the proponent group agreed “to incorporate the modification to give priority to the consumption of local production against import’. In addition, she adds, “to demand that the REA subsidies be reviewed.”
Cristo González has always worked in Podemos, since the party was born as a result of 15M, and in the most legal area. She has been responsible for the legal part of the candidacies of the electoral campaigns since 2015. She is the Secretary of Institutional Action, Executive Coordination and Municipalism of Podemos Canarias.
