The City Council of Villa de Tegueste, through the Department of Festivities, confirms that the municipality will host the celebration of its traditional magicians dance in Tegueste, for the festivities of San Marcos Evangelista, on April 30, while the day before, on Friday 29, the popular festival will take place. Also, the party program includes the exhibition of carts and carts in the surroundings of La Placeta on April 24 and 25.
The mayor, Ana Rosa Mena, explains that, after the elimination of the health restrictions due to COVID-19, the City Council has decided not to carry out the traditional and emblematic pilgrimage of San Marcos due to the lack of time to prepare the entire security device. “Despite the fact that we cannot live the San Marcos festivities as we would like, we will get a little closer to enjoying our star celebration with street events and tributes to the groups so closely linked to the pilgrimage.”
For its part, the Councilor for Festivals, Eladia López, trusts that the Tegueste pilgrimage can take to the streets in 2023 and highlights the collaboration of the groups involved. “We will enjoy the music in the street with the popular verbena, as well as with the dance of magicians in Teguste, which I trust will be a success,” says Eladia López.
Among the most outstanding acts, the municipality will host on April 24, the day of San Marcos, which will begin with the solemn celebration of the Eucharist. At its end, procession of the Holy Image from the Plaza de San Marcos to La Placeta. There will be an exhibition of wagons and carts in addition to the performance of various folk groups.
In general, a wide range of activities are proposed for the San Marcos festivities that will be held until Sunday, May 1. These will include acts such as the proclamation of the festivities, which will take place on Thursday, April 21 at 8:30 p.m. and will feature a performance by the musical group Achaman. On the other hand, the Gala Election of the Romera Mayor to San Marcos Evangelista will be on Friday, April 22 at 9:00 p.m.
Performances during the Dance of the Magi in Tegueste
On Friday the 29th there will be a performance by the music band Agrupación de San Marcos Evangelista at 8:00 p.m. and the beginning of the verbena from 10:00 p.m., with the Malibú and Cadetes orchestras. Likewise, the Villa will have a performance by Los Muchachos, Guaydil, Acapulco and Dorada Band during the Dance of the Magicians in Tegueste, scheduled for Saturday, April 30, starting at 10:00 p.m.
Specifically, the popular verbena and the dance of magicians in Tegueste will have a maximum capacity of 5,000 people, so that people interested in attending can request free tickets at the door of the City Hall, from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 14:00. hours, and at the Teatro Príncipe Felipe, from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 21:30, starting on April 19.
