The bus company Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa) will extend payment by bank card to all its lines, after concluding the process of implementing this new system, which has been operating for a few months on the most used routes.
In this way, users who choose to use the bank card will make the payment in the same way as is currently done with the company’s own Ten+ card, the price of the trip being the same as if it were paid with cash.
However, only Mastercard and Visa cards that do not require the introduction of the pin may be used, the Cabildo de Tenerife reported in a statement on Tuesday.
The payment and validation of the trip can also be made through mobile devices, in the case of those who have linked their account to them.
The Minister of Mobility and President of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, highlighted that the company is “the first intercity transport company in Spain to implement payment by bank card in the entire fleet of vehicles”. The installation of this new form of remuneration in all the buses has involved an investment of 745,000 euros, earmarked for adapting the hardware Y software of the ticketing system.
For his part, the island director of Mobility, José Alberto León, added that this implementation “allows greater agility in the process to access the bus, offering a whole range of possibilities to pay for the trip, especially for less frequent users of this form of transportation.
