This Tuesday opens the deadline to apply for the Agrojoven 2022 island awards

The council opens this Tuesday April 12th deadline to participate in the Agrojoven Awards 2022. The island councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla explains that this contest, endowed with 14,400 euros in prizes, seeks to “promote the professionalization and participation of young people in the development of the primary sector to contribute to generational change.” It is focused on people under 41 years of age.

This is the eighth edition of a contest that recognizes and distinguishes business projects carried out by young people and linked to the island’s rural environment. The councilor for the primary sector in Tenerife explains that the objective of these awards is “to try to reduce abandonment, more or less secular, of agricultural lands».

Sustainable development

The insular director of the area, Cayetano Silva, for his part, adds that It is about “valuing the talent and capacity of the new generations of businessmen and women in the agricultural and livestock sector, through projects that promote job creation and promote sustainable development of the rural world.

The application submission period will remain open for 20 business days from today, April 12. The contest is divided into two modalities. The first will recognize those projects that have been launched 24 months before the deadline for submitting applications. The three best initiatives will receive a prize amounting to 5,000, 4,000 and 3,000 euros, respectively, depending on the score.

The second modality will distinguish the best business ideas among those projects that have not yet been launched. Four prizes of 600 euros will be awarded to each of the four proposals best valued by the jury.

The contest is aimed at people under 41 years of age, who are registered in any municipality on the Island, regardless of their nationality. Those private legal persons in which at least half of its members are under 41 years of age and who participate in the same proportion in the share capital may also participate. In addition, they must have their registered office in Tenerife.

Evaluation

The business projects admitted to the competition will be evaluated by a technical committee, made up of personnel from the Cabildo and other entities from the agricultural sector and rural development, based on the evaluation criteria previously established.

The application model and the bases are available to interested persons in the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo. They can also be informed through the Agrocabildo website (www.agrocabildo.org) and in the Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Agencies of the Island Corporation. Generational change and return to the countryside to increase the cultivated agricultural area. Two strategic objectives that mark the VIII Agrojoven Awards.
